The group Geometry, Topology and Applications is constituted by lecturers of the Dep. Mathematics and Applications, postdoctoral researchers and Ph.D. students. The group also includes collaborators which are lecturers or researchers in other institutions.
The main areas of the group's research are:
- Algebraic Topology
- Differential Geometry
- General Relativity
The group has collaborations with several national and foreign researchers, both mathematicians and theoretical physicists from renowned research units. Group members are engaged in research projects funded by Fundação para a Ciência e Tecnologia (FCT), National Science Foundation (NSF), European Science Foundation (ESF) and European Commission, through the Marie Curie programme.
The current group results from a recent internal reorganisation of CMAT. All Ph.D. members participated in the project Geometry, Topology and Mathematical Physics (GTMP
